Winsuite (TM) (NDI Technologies Ltd)
Almost all schools using Winsuite 2000 (tm), versions 2.2 through to 3.51 or Winsuite Enterprise Edition find that the network versions of both Numbershark 3 and Wordshark 3s install and run smoothly and well, following the standard network instructions.
A few schools set some or all of their Winsuite user groups’ program restriction levels to “Stringent”. The effect of “Stringent Program Security” is to prevent users from running any executables from their desktop unless these are first added to an “Exceptions List” by the school’s Winsuite Administrator.
If you have a “Stringent” Program Restriction Level, you will need to modify your “Exceptions List” to include the .exe files required by our software. We thank NDI Technologies Ltd for these notes and for permission to use the following screenshots, provided by their engineers who tested our programs for any possible issues.
NB - Winsuite path names, including critically the “start in” path must NOT be surrounded by quotation marks, or they will not be recognised. This may have the effect of causing the licence number and key code not to be recognised, or an “Error code 9”, or pupil data not being saved. Screenshot
If “Screen Manager”(tm) is being used, the program tab looks slightly different, and instead of choosing a program level security, you can choose to either use “Wiper”(tm) or not. “Wiper” is similar to “Stringent Security”, in that any programs on the screen manager desktop are allowed, as are all programs you specify on the exceptions list: Other programs are prevented from running. The Wiper “Exceptions List” is the same as for “Stringent”, which is:
Exemptions Required:
Wordshark 3s: Wordshark3nrun.exe and javaw.exe or wordshark.jar
Numbershark 3: numbershark3nrun.exe and javaw.exe or nshark.jar
Numbershark 4: numbershark4nrun.exe and javaw.exe or nshark.jar
You may also need to add the .exe files from the directories wordshark-programs/bin or numbershark-programs/bin.
If you have problems with graphics (see “known issues”) you will also need to exempt “fixgraphics.exe” before running this.

File Ranger and Account Xpress are two other programs from the same company:
File Ranger is used to block people from running specific file types etc.
Account Xpress is used by schools to set up users for their network and to allocate a home folder to that user.*
* Account Xpress: All user details for Wordshark and Numbershark are stored in our own -shared folders, not in “home folders”.
