Updating your Apple Macintosh OS
Using “Software Update” to update your system so that Wordshark or Numbershark can be run
(for Mac OS X version 10.2 and above)

1. The minimum requirements to run Wordshark or Numbershark on Mac OS X are Mac OS 10.2.6 and Java 1.4. If you are running a Mac OS X version 10.2 system that requires these updates you can do this free via “Software Update”. This will require an internet connection, preferably broadband, as the download times otherwise may be very long.

2. Go to the Apple Menu at the top left of the screen and select “System Preferences”
3. In the System Preferences Pane select “Software Update”

4. Click on the “Update Now” button.
5. Software Update will begin checking for updates automatically. Once it builds a list of updates available for your computer, check the ones you wish to install. If you click on an update, you can see details about it in the lower panel.
6. In order to run Wordshark or Numbershark we recommend that you install any updates to the Mac OS X operating system and to Java.
7. Make sure a checkmark appears beside each update you want to install.
8. When prompted, Type your administrator name and password. Click on the “OK” button.

9. After the installations are complete, a restart may be required. Always run Software Updates a second time after manually updating as some updates may only appear after other updates have been applied.
