As a security measure, RM Classmate sets a number of permissions by default .
Some of these default settings prevent Numbershark and Wordshark from working correctly.
Specifically, the default “write” permissions for restricted users prevent both programs from saving records and word lists for children unless signed in with manager rights.
R.M. Plc are aware of this, and can advise users on changing permissions to allow children to be signed in as restricted users and still have their wordlists and records saved. We understand that this is available to RM customers, as RM article TEC 165092
We have been told by school technicians that this is done by going to the command prompt and typing in:
caclas "C:\Program Files\Numbershark 3\numbershark-shared" /T /G /everyone:f
An alternative suggestion from a school tech (also NOT tested by us or verified by RM) is:
1. Log on as 'Manager'
2. Click on 'Start' and select 'My Computer'
3. Double click on 'Local Work C:'
4. Double click on 'Program Files' folder
5. Right click on'Example Application' folder and select 'Sharing and Security'
6. Tick the box next to ' Share this folder on the network'
7. Tick the box next to ' Allow network users to change my files' and click on the 'Apply' button
