The original Numbershark and Wordshark 2L work on operating systems up to Windows 98.
All releases of Wordshark 3 and 3s and Numbershark 3 work on Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, NT, XP (Home) XP (Professional), Server 2003, with the same requirements as the current version (below).
There are no known issues with XP service pack 2. Internet access is not required.
We are finding Windows 98 and ME (which are no longer supported by Microsoft,) increasingly unreliable when installing programs, and hard disks of this age are often too full to accommodate our programs.
Vista compatibility: Wordshark 3s.07, Numbershark 3.07 and later releases work well on all variants of Vista. Notes for Vista users

PC Networks: The programs may be installed to run from the server or from clients or both. The programs work with most 3rd party network security packages, but please check with us to confirm. See also “Known issues” and “Networks”.
* Program may run slowly with less than the specified RAM: Close down background programs for better performance, and check that spyware or viruses are not present.
** Wordshark now requires over 450Mb, and Numbershark over 200Mb. Most operating systems also need at least a further 100Mb of free disk space for temporary files. We therefore advise that you check your computer has more than 500Mb free hard disk space (5Gb for Vista users). For optimum performance of your computer operating system, aim to keep 15% of your hard disk space free.
*** The local CD drive may be internal, or for XP SP2 or later, a local USB external drive. A school-wide “CD stacker” or “CD Virtual Drive” does NOT work.
Thin Client networks: We are aware of several school and college networks running Wordshark & Numbershark successfully using thin client / Windows Terminal Services. In other cases, a slow server, and/or low spec soundcard or graphics card, and/or lack of bandwidth has resulted in jerky graphics or sound and intermittent freezing. If you have a thin client network, please contact Support before purchase.
