Wordshark and Numbershark work in similar ways. Most of the following error messages apply to both programs.  These error messages are based on Wordshark release 3s.05 and 3s.06 onwards, and earlier releases have minor differences.

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION   This has occurred once, and was the result of an administrator being on two machines  using the same user ID.  This corrupted the administrator’s file in the [word]shark-shared directory. Solution was to remove this file and sign that administrative user back on.

Error on installing: "CRC Error: The file [filename] doesn't match the file in the setup CAB file"  OR, with older releases “Error 1305”
As your computer installs our programs, it checks that it has copied the files correctly from the CD to your hard disk, using a mathematical test called a "Cyclic Redundancy Check" or CRC. This error means that it has mis-copied a file. This is usually because

- the CD-drive is slightly out of adjustment,
- the CD itself is smudged or dirty: Try cleaning it.
- the CD-drive lens may be dirty: You may find that cleaning the drive helps. Drive cleaning kits can be purchased from high street PC shops.

You may find that trying the install again works.  If not, we suggest you try the disks on a different computer to be sure that the disks themselves are OK. If they are, then the most cost effective solution is to buy a replacement CD drive.

If having cleaned the disk and tried it on a different machine without success, suspect disk damage. Contact us.
