Wordshark and Numbershark work in similar ways. Most of the following error messages apply to both programs.  These error messages are based on Wordshark release 3s.05 and 3s.06 onwards,  and earlier releases have minor differences.

An unexpected error has occurred - click ignore or cancel"  whilst installing  This is a rare message, mainly found in the earliest releases of Wordshark 3 and Numbershark 3.

In most cases, a missing soundcard or soundcard driver have resulted in this message.
In two cases, the PC had a VGA Trident VIA chipset, and the solution was to turn down the hardware acceleration for the display driver.
In one case a corrupted user file was implicated. Emptying out the student data file “shark-shared” cleared the problem.

 Error message “Please log in with admin privileges and try again”
 If you are already signed on as a XP Administrative user, this message is often due to a scratched/damaged disk.  Details    However, there are other causes, described here
