The network version, on the very first run only, from one machine only, requires you  to input a licence key.

If you are subsequently asked for a licence key, then the program is unable to read or write the licence key. There are three reasons for this fault:

A) The “start-in” path is incorrect. Ensure the “start - in” , or “working directory” of the desktop icon (properties/shortcuts tab) points to “Numbershark- Shared” or  “Wordshark - shared” (shark-shared or nshark shared for early versions)

B) The “permissions”are incorrect for the above folder  All users should have read, write and modify  special permissions for this folder, which may then be set up as a “hidden” folder after initial testing.

C) You have occasional overload conditions on your network, wireless access points or switches), resulting in file corruptions.
Remove “options.sha” from the -shared folder and re-enter your licence code. You may find the problem reoccurs.
Ensure you have followed the “slow networks” install option (v3.04 or later), NOT the “fast networks” one. Consider upgrading parts of your network infrastructure.
These corruptions are repaired automatically from v4.06.
If you have v3, consider upgrading.
If you have v4, contact us to arrange a disk exchange to 4.06+

Most network technicians will be familiar with changing paths and permissions. Other staff are normally granted permission to carry out these actions.

FAQ 4:

The network version keeps asking us for our licence key. Why?
