Before installing: We recomment that you disconnect from the internet, and disable anti-virus software during installation of Wordshark and Numbershark, then re-start your computer to re-enable your anti-virus program.

Whilst there are no known conflicts between our programs and anti-virus software generally, some releases of some virus definition files from some companies occasionally incorrectly flag one or more of our files as a “suspicious object”, otherwise known as a “false positive”.  An example of one that has affected Wordshark is at FAQ 16

In some cases, the anti-virus program has asked “Do you want to delete/quarantine the suspect file”. If you agree to this,  then the anti-virus program will  delete/quarantine parts of our program, which will then not work.  If you say “no”, then the program usually runs happily from then onwards.

In some cases, the anti-virus program has asked “Do you want to run or quarantine the suspect file”.
If you “quarantine” our program, it will not run!
Typically, either the program will appear to install fine, and may even run once, but thereafter will open to the first “splash” screen, which sits for 15-30 seconds and then closes. Causes for this symptom
OR  it sits for 1 - 20 minutes, and then opens and runs normally. Causes for this symptom

In some cases, anti-virus programs can cause freezing of our programs:

Slow running and even freezing of Wordshark and Numbershark has been reported on some low-spec computers which are running anti-virus software, or even running TWO anti-virus programs at the same time!

This is not a conflict, but a symptom of insufficient memory or processing power to run each of these programs at the same time.

If you are affected, check that you have no more than one anti-virus program running. If two are running, switch one off.

On VERY low - spec computers, it may be necessary to disconnect from the internet and disable virus scanning whilst running our programs.
